Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE)
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) is a world-renowned programme that gives young people the chance to develop new skills, build confidence, and make a difference in their community. At TALA we are proud to offer students the opportunity to take part in this exciting and rewarding challenge.
What is DofE?
The DofE is a personal development programme for young people aged 14–24. It is designed to stretch individuals, encourage teamwork, and build resilience through a series of activities across four key areas:
- Volunteering – making a difference by helping others in the community.
- Physical – improving fitness through sport, dance, or other physical activities.
- Skills – developing practical and social skills, from cooking to photography.
- Expedition – planning and completing a self-sufficient journey in the countryside.
Students can work towards three levels of the Award: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level brings new challenges and greater rewards.
Why Take Part?
The DofE is recognised by universities, colleges, and employers as a mark of commitment, independence, and leadership. Participants gain:
- Increased confidence and self-belief
- Stronger teamwork and problem-solving skills
- Lifelong friendships and memorable experiences
- A nationally recognised award that stands out on applications and CVs
