Business and Enterprise
In KS3, students should begin to learn about what it means to be enterprising. Entrepreneurship in the curriculum helps students to enhance their soft skills and prepare them for the world of work.
In KS4, students should to develop a wider understanding of enterprise and the elements that make enterprises work successfully. Students will learn about the reasons for the existence of different enterprises and how they can be categorised according to size. Then should they begin to consider a number of ideas before developing a plan for a realistic micro-enterprise activity.
Students will explore the different promotional methods used by enterprises and the factors that influence how enterprises identify and target their market.
They will also assess and analyse financial information in an enterprise context to monitor the performance of an enterprise and use strategies to improve its performance. They will set up an enterprise, and learn how to fund it and operate it. Finally they should develop evaluation and presentation skills.
