As part of the Academy’s drive to ensure that our students are well-positioned to make informed decisions regarding their post-16 options, a select group of Y11 students were fortunate to visit Cambridge University. The purpose of the visit was to attend a ‘Subject Matters’ workshop led by Cambridge University Admission Tutors that outlined suitable subject choices and combinations at A-Level in order to study highly competitive courses and attend highly selective universities.
Whilst in Cambridge, we also visited Pembroke College and had a guided tour of their facilities as well as a question and answer session about university life led by current Cambridge students. Students were particularly keen to learn more about the ‘Harry Potter’ style formal dinners and the surprising amount time university students spend in their library.
The students left Cambridge enthused and motivated to excel in their forthcoming GCSE examinations in order to position themselves with the opportunity to attend Cambridge or a similar prestigious university.
