From September 2014 the Department for Education (DfE) abolished the previous system of assessing pupils’ performance in KS3 with levels and sublevels.
This coincided with a complete rewrite of every KS3 subject’s programme of study from the same point in time. In most cases the content of the programme of study in Year 7 is radically different to what has gone before, and the government has taken this opportunity to end the previous system of assessment which has been in place for many years. The DfE does not intend to devise a national scheme to replace that which is now defunct, preferring instead to allow each school to devise their own in-house system.
The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy has, therefore, been working on our own replacement assessment structure. We will be issuing much more information about new assessment at KS3 in the coming weeks.
